The David Project is excited to bring you our most innovative and hands-on summer seminars yet – our Relationship Building Institute 2018.

At the Relationship Building Institute, you will gain the skills necessary to be an effective relational advocate and develop a strategic Israel outreach plan unique to your campus. In addition, you will have the opportunity to network with like-minded students from across the country, Jewish professionals, and educators in fields of relational advocacy and Israel engagement.  Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the program cost?

The cost of the Relationship Building Institute is only $100 before June 1. After June 1, the cost is $150. This fee covers your housing, meals, and materials. We also provide travel subsidies for student participants. The fee is only due after being accepted to the program and upon registration.

Who can attend?

Students and Hillel professionals from The David Project’s partner campuses. Not sure if you qualify? Check with your regional campus coordinator.

When should I apply?

How do I get to Hofstra university? Is there a travel subsidy?

All participants are responsible for booking and arranging all of their own travel to and from Hofstra University. We do offer travel subsidies to help defray the cost of travel for students only. You will only receive your travel subsidy from us upon completion of the program after the timely submission of your receipts.

We advise you to book your travel arrangements as soon as you are accepted, before the prices go up. Receipts for travel reimbursement must be submitted no later than 5 business days after the program ends in order to receive your stipend.

How much is the travel stipend? What type of travel is eligible for a stipend?

Students traveling to and from Hofstra University from outside of the NYC Tristate Area are eligible a travel subsidy of 50% of their travel costs up to $250. Travel stipends can be used for flights, train & bus tickets (Amtrak, LIRR, NJT, Metro North, Megabus, Bolt Bus, Peter Pan, Greyhound, MTA), and personal driving (IRS mileage rate, plus gas & tolls). Travel stipends may not be used towards taxi cabs, Uber, Lyft, checked bag fees, extra flight fees (extra leg room, upgrades), or parking.

All receipts must be show proof of purchase. The minimum travel subsidy is $25.

A: You will receive a subsidy check of $200.

A: You have not met the 50% minimum of and would not be eligible for a travel subsidy.

Where will I be staying?

Students will be staying in the residence halls of Hofstra University, two to a room. Upon arrival, you will receive a room assignment and room key.

Hillel professionals will be staying in the residence halls of Hofstra University and will have a single room, with a shared bathroom.

Q: I live on Long Island. Am I required to stay at Hofstra University?

A: Yes, all participants must stay at Hofstra University for the duration of the program.

Will there be kosher food?

All food will be certified Kosher. Please indicate any and all dietary requirements, restrictions, or food allergies in your registration.
