I am so pleased and excited to take this opportunity to introduce myself and a couple other new faces here at the David Project! My name is Elana Willinsky and I have just begun as the new Communications Associate, along with Hillary Kern who has filled the Development Associate position, and Jacklyn Liberman who is our newest Campus Coordinator. Hillary has already proven that she can do pretty much anything and everything in the office, and Jacklyn is ready to start making connections and changing lives on campuses in Florida. Please read on for our ~official~ bios and feel free to reach out and say hello, we would love to speak with you! Elana joined the David Project in February of 2016. She loves to travel, but is always drawn back to her hometown of Boston. Elana has vivid memories of visiting Israel with her family at a young age which helped foster her love of Israel as a second home and community, and led her to be active in her Jewish community growing up. She graduated from Emerson College with a BFA in Writing, Literature, & Publishing and Political Science with a focus in the MENA region. She has written for a variety of publications and blogs, and since college has focused her efforts on communication work within the nonprofit sector. Elana is so excited to be joining an organization which promotes personal narrative, thoughtful dialogue, and relationship building— three of her favorite things!
Hillary Kern joined The David Project in January 2016 as the Development Associate. Originally from Los Angeles, California she graduated from Indiana University in 2010. While at IU, Hillary found a Jewish community and strengthened her Jewish identity on campus through Hillel. After returning to the West Coast, Hillary went on a life changing Birthright Israel trip. In 2013, she came to Boston to work as the IACT/ Israel Programs Coordinator at Clark University Hillel, where she put on countless Israel programs and staffed 5 Birthright Israel trips. In her free time, she volunteers with Jewish Big Brothers Big Sister’s Friend 2 Friend program, which serves adults with disabilities and is a committee member for Hebrew College’s ESER Young Adult Learning series. Hillary brings her passion for Israel and dedication to serving the Jewish community to her position at The David Project.
Jacklyn grew up in sunny Southern California. She attended college at the University of Washington where she obtained her BA in International Studies. In order to strengthen her Jewish identity and work experience, she moved to Israel to be part of Career Israel, a 6 month internship program. Following her internship with the Israeli Industry Center for R&D, she stayed in Israel to receive her MA from IDC in Herzliya, Israel in Diplomacy and Conflict studies with a specialization in Negotiations. After graduation, Jacklyn moved to Boston, MA. She is very excited to be a part of The David Project team and help her students advocate for Israel on each of their campuses.
